Pervaiz Rasheed – A Hero of Democracy
From the Blog pkhope Col Nadeem Ejaz, who later became General, was a known sadist who was let loose on Pervaiz Rasheed by Musharraf. Nadeem Ejaz used to torture Pervaiz Rasheed in different ways to draw pleasure. His favorite was to ram a big peace of coarse wood into sensitive area of Pervaiz Rasheed and broadcasting screams of Pervaiz live to his boss Musharraf. What was the crime of Pervaiz Rasheed? Well, only that he refused to side with the dictator and remained loyal to his leader Nawaz Sharif. Droves of people were leaving Nawaz Sharif and joining Kings party of Musharrraf, the notorious PMLQ, whereas handful of few were standing loyal and steadfast, facing torture of sadists like Nadeem Ejaz. Companions like Mushahidullah, Pervaiz Rasheed, Rana Sanaullah, Javed Hashmi, and Khawaja Asif arpakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments
Panwaari – Fit For Royalty
From the Blog cheflingtales The consumption of paan (betel nut) has been popular throughout the subcontinent for centuries. It's said that the Mughals were responsible for introducing this "delicacy" in Lahore, and from here it spread throughout the region. It's also said to have become even more popular in Pakistan after partition, especially among the Memon and Urdu-speaking communities. While some households may consume it regularly, paan is also enjoyed in general as an occasional delicacy. Paan is almost always bought from street vendors, or paan walas, as opposed to being prepared at home, as was the norm in days past. Paan is a sort of a 'mouth-freshener', and the Mughals usually ended their meals by chewing on it. You usually find paan in small shops (khokas), where you order your choice of paan.pakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments
In the SNL's Haunted Elevator
From the Blog iamzeeshanI have always been a fan of Saturday Night Live (SNL), and the show feels like home, a place where I find peace and a lot of giggles and laughs. The latest episode, which featured the amazing Tom Hanks, has been all over the social media. I must admit, it was one of the best episodes in the last few years, with truly hilarious sketches. The best of the lot was the Haunted Elevator. I am not alone in this, because this sketch can now be seen everywhere. With every re-watch I have found it to be funnier, which is certainly something wonderful. I had a few thoughts on the sketch, so I decided to write this. Before I start, here's the sketch, if you haven't seen it yet (or if you wish to watch it again...I know it kinda grows on you) (that was a Creepshow reference, by the way). pakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments
