From the Blog beanbagtalesThere was a time when I thought I'll never ever part with any of my books. That, for as long as I live, I'll keep every single book I've ever bought. Every single one. Have I stuck to my book pact? I'm afraid I haven't. Over the past few years I've donated many of my books. You might ask, dear reader, what brought the change of heart? More like change of space - getting customised shelves made is very expensive these days. But more than the cost, I think it was the very act of hoarding books which lost its appeal. Why collect books which a) I didn't plan to re-read, b) didn't plan to read at all or c) disliked? Why not give them away to new readers who might actually enjoy both reading and owning the book? From the Blog beenasarwar[image: samia sarwar] Not just the ‘poor’ and ‘uneducated’ – Samia Sarwar was murdered in her lawyer’s office by a man abetted by her own mother, a doctor. *The outrage against the murder of Farzana Parveen outside the Lahore High Court reminded me of something I wrote in September 2008, published in The News, Pakistan and in The Hindu, India, below. Farzana was going to the court to testify that she had married her husband of her own choice (defending him against kidnapping charges her family had brought against him). Such murders for ‘honour’ are common in the region. In Pakistan, the situation is exacerbated by the Qisas and Diyat law which enables the perpetrators to literally get away with murder (as Raymond Davis did). Nokia XL Launched in Pakistan

It is best of the Android trio, announced at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year. *Nokia XL* is infact a flagship model for the Nokia X family. Although, at the moment all Nokia X family devices are low-end Androids but we are expecting to see 2-3 more Nokia X devices by the end of 2014. *Nokia XL* runs a custom version of Android 4.1.2 Jellybean. It has a 5.0-inch IPS LCD display, with 480×800 pixel resolution. The device comes bundled with a 1Ghz Dual Core processor and 768MB of RAM. [Movie Review] Reliving Hansie Cronje

It’s a film based on true story of former South Africa captain Hansie Cronje. The film was released in 2008 and its screenplay was written and produced by Hansie's brother Frans Cronje. Spring/Summer Sewing 2014 - Part 1

From the Blog ummeyusuf This post has been a long time coming. For the last few weeks, I have been using all and any free time I could get, to sew up some dresses for my girls. But there has been so little free time and the going has been very slow. But finally I do have some stuff to blog about. In this post, I will show you a couple of dresses for my eldest daughter. She got to choose the fabrics and you can see she has a thing for tiny flowers and blue color. Somehow I had difficulty deciding the patterns for these dresses. Again I went with her preferences, a full gathered skirt for both, no full-circle or tiered one for her. That narrowed down the choices and made decisions easier. Both dresses are self-drafted. Founded in 2001, Roshni Association provides a safe haven for individuals whose families are unable to financially and emotionally support their loved ones. Its founders, Shahida Perveen, a Pakistani social worker, and her husband, Hamid Hannesen, believe that there is still little awareness about special education in the country. They have been focusing on therapy in adults and aim to meet those requirements. There are currently 50 students at the centre, which charges no fee. I got this nail color in PBBC Swap from my secret partner.Details will be up in my Detailed Swap Post soon.I am a huge fan of Pink nail polish.So when I saw this in my goody bag I was quite excited. It is Maybelline's Color Show Nail color in PINK BOOM Though it appeared Bright Pink to me in the nail polish bottle but when applied it was a neon pink shade.Here I have applied 2 coats of the shade.This is my second experience with Maybelline's nail polish.I still find the formula hard to work witj.Its streaky.I dont know but this particular nail polish had already chipped off at the end of the day.Though my previous experience was way better.The packaging is quite decent with a small brush as well. Pakistan Has World's 4th Highest Number of Shadow Entrepreneurs

Pakistan's 109 shadow entrepreneurs for every officially registered one rank it 4th behind Indonesia's 131, India's 127 and the Philippines' 126. Egypt ranks 5th with 103 shadow entrepreneurs. The U.S. appears at number 32 on the list with 2.37 unregistered businesses for each registered one, while the UK exhibits the lowest rate of shadow entrepreneurship among the 68 countries surveyed, with a ratio of only one shadow economy entrepreneur to nearly 30 legally registered businesses. And the act was not that of an individual – but by almost two dozen (twenty to be exact) who came en masse to do this 'noble act' as decided by the family to put an end to their daughter's life in the name of honour. A sad end to a love marriage – but a bitter reality wherein a woman is stoned to death in broad day light and police and onlooker just kept watching her dying – silently. Zaka Ashraf unaware of bookie approach to players

Pita Bread

From the Blog bakerscanvasLast of all on my Greek Lunch was pita bread, that helped bind the lunch together. Being a Pakistani family, we need some form of flatbread or *roti*with our food. Any menu lacking flatbread or roti is not fulfilling enough. Traditional* roti* made on a tawa does not pair well with Greek menu, hence the pita bread. In the recent years, Pita bread has become quite a fad. When I was working as a QAE at a software house, we learnt of a place that made and delivered gyros. Gyros are typically meat sandwiches made with pita bread. That was my first proper introduction to this simple yet delicious bread. Then shawarmas propped up al over the place, again made with a version of pita bread. The other friend said: " Aunty, actually Chilli went to the Imam Sahib and complained to him for not giving the evening azan. Chilli told Imam Sahib that he is dying of hunger and thirst." Imam Sahib scolded him for his habitual silly talking. Imam sahib in addition told Chilli that there were still six hours for the evening azan. Chilli hearing of six hours more to wait to eat could not accept and lost his senses. Mother massaged his foot sole and sprinkled water on his face. Chilli coming back to consciousness softly asked for water. Mother with all love in her voice and gestures: " My sweet heart. You are fasting. Just wait for a little more time.
