[Movie Review] Reliving Hansie Cronje
From the Blog enIt’s purely a coincidence that while last few weeks were soaked in the news and updates on match fixing, thanks to the revelations of Lou Vincent, that I watched "Hansie" last weekend. It’s a film based on true story of former South Africa captain Hansie Cronje. The film was released in 2008 and its screenplay was written and produced by Hansie's brother Frans Cronje. Before I write about the film I feel compelled to write about Hansie Cronje, the man who is etched on my memory. I was introduced to his name by a class fellow in 1996 during World Cup, a day before Pakistan’s match with South Africa. My interest with cricket was reconnected that year after a gap of four years; perhaps the biggest reason of this was Pakistan being co-host of the tournament.
