There is this small area under a fixed computer table in one of our bedrooms where we would sit, and because it would be so hot we'd also put a portable fan to the side. But if you want to find it, then search for it in the district Badin. The place is there since pre-partition times when it was a part of British India. But unlike other old towns, this one neither completely perished nor grew up any further. This is a tiny black-hole where time seems to have stuck. It is where clocks cease to move. Flash forward to this time, I think I'm pretty helpless now. I see people discussing dark skins if they were a problem. If lighter skins were the only symbol of beauty, half of this world would be deprived of beauty. But it's not the only measure. It really shouldn't be. I was never told how things like that could happen. My childhood is full of memories of running wildly with my friends when we played silly games, reading books, made up of old pages and new pages smell, and so many adventures that are not saved in my memory anymore but they left the aura of their occurrence. From the Blog cricnama کرکٹ اب بہت زیادہ تیز ہو چکا ہے، اتنا کہ پہلے قریب کھڑے وکٹ کیپرز کے لیے ہیلمٹ لازمی ہوا، اب امپائروں نے بھی پہننے شروع کردیے ہیں اور ایسا لگتا ہے کہ وہ وقت دور نہیں جب میدان میں دوڑتے فیلڈر بھی اپنی کھوپڑیاں بچانے کی کوشش کرتے نظر آئیں۔ گزشتہ روز ہم سے پاک-انگلستان واحد ٹی ٹوئںٹی میں ہم نے عماد وسیم کو فیلڈنگ کے دوران اچانک ایک شاٹ پکڑتے ہوئے زخمی ہوتے دیکھا کیونکہ گیند یکدم اچھل گئی تھی۔ وہ تو بھلا ہوا کہ انہیں زیادہ نقصان نہیں پہنچا لیکن بھارت کے پراگیان اوجھا اتنے خوش نصیب ثابت نہیں ہوئے۔ دلیپ ٹرافی کے فائنل کے دوران جب بلے باز پنکج سنگھ نے ایک شاٹ کھیلا تو گیند زمین کے ساتھ تیزی سے آگے جا رہی تھی اور اس کی راہ میں اوجھا حائل تھے۔ انہوں نے گیند کو روکنے کے لیے پوزیشن سنبھالی لیکن گیند کسی ناہموار جگہ سے ٹکرا کر یکدم اٹھی اور سیدھا ان کے سر پر لگی۔ درد کی شدت کی وجہ سے وہ فpakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

From the Blog awaz-e-dostبلاگنگ پچھلی صدی کے آخری عشرے کے اواخر میں شروع ہوئی تھی۔ ہماری ناقص معلومات کے مطابق لوگوں نے اپنی ویب سائٹوں پر personal یا اپنے نام سے ایک ڈائریکٹری یا سب ڈومین بنا کر اس پر دن بھر کی مصروفیات، روئداد یا کسی ذاتی یا غیر ذاتی موضوع پر اپنے خیالات کو ایک ڈائری یا بیاض کی شکل میں بیان کرنا شروع کیا۔ زبان کی یہ تحریری صنف مضمون لکھنے جیسے ہی تھی، لیکن یہ اس سے مقابلے میں زیادہ بے تکلفانہ اور ذاتی رنگ لئے ہوئے تھی۔ انگریزی اور دیگر زبانوں کی بلاگنگ کو دیکھتے ہوئے اردو میں بھی لوگوں نے 2004 یا اس کے بعد بلاگنگ شروع کی۔ اور چند برسوں میں چند لوگوں سے یہ تعداد سو کا ہندسہ پار کر گئی۔اردو بلاگرز نے 2005 سے 2010 بلکہ تین چار برس بعد تک بھی بلاگز چلائے، اور ان پر قارئین کی ایک مناسب (چند درجن سے سو یا زیادہ وزٹر فی پوسٹ) تعداد بھی آتی رہی۔ لیکن جیسا کہ انٹرنیٹ پر ہر چیز تیزی سے ارتقاء pakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

Sultans Turkish: Brisbane's Cure for Pardesi Food Cravings

From the Blog cheflingtales When you move to a foreign country (we're known as pardesis) the one thing you miss most in the whole world is your own kind of food. As a Pakistani in Australia, it breaks my heart every time I eat out. I miss the spicy food, the masalas that make our mouth water, the taste of "maa ke hath ka khana" (mom's cooking). The seemingly bland taste foreigners are used to is just not for me. I love eating chatkhara, roll parathas and gol gappay. With this in mind, I began to hunt for a spot in Brisbane that would give me that delicious eastern flavor. Of the precious few I found, there was one that I found exceptional — Sultans Turkish Family Restaurant.
