Lesson 1: Emotional Investment, From The Book “Things A Little Bird Told Me: Confessions Of The Creative Mind” By Biz Stone
From the Blog salmanahmad While this book is rich in terms of lessons and takeaways, it’s hard to decide which lessons to highlight and write in my blog and which ones to leave out. However, the ones I have left out, in no manner mean to be less important. In fact, the entire purpose of this post (and a few more posts to come) is to share only my favorite takeaways and lessons from the book. So here we go, the first take away from this book is *“Emotional Investment”*. http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1384027655l/18296144.jpg According to Biz Stone, unless and until we are emotionally invested in a cause, idea, job or task, we won’t be able to truly excel in it and make the best out of it. Protesting in Pakistan
From the Blog sonyarehman *By Sonya Rehman* Mohammad Jibran Nasir is a young Pakistani activist from Karachi, leading the popular #ReclaimYourMosques campaign in Pakistan after the brutal Peshawar attack in which more than 130 children were killed in cold blood by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Nasir’s movement was initiated after the Lal Masjid’s imam, Abdul Aziz, refused to condemn the atrocity on a local channel. The staging of protests outside the mosque with Pakistan’s civil society was followed by the lodging of a First Information Report (FIR, a police complaint) against Aziz. Nasir vows to continue his campaign until Aziz is arrested. Jibran’s Abdul Aziz Challenge – in which Pakistanis urge the government to arrest the cleric – has gained momentum via social media. Excerpt from As Nigerian Massacre Evidence Grows, Questions Swirl over Collusion Between Boko Haram & Military JUAN GONZÁLEZ: I’d like to ask Professor Horace Campbell of Syracuse University about the role of American policy in the region. A few years ago, we saw, to much fanfare, President Obama’s support of the overthrow of Gaddafi and the sending of military support to the Libyan rebels. What’s been the impact across northern Africa of the overthrow of Gaddafi in terms of the rise and the resurgence of fundamentalist groups? HORACE CAMPBELL: Thank you, Juan.
