Geo Suspended by PEMRA/ISI: A defeat for civil society, judiciary, democracy and free media.
From the Blog united4justice Geo has been suspended by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on the pressure of Pakistan’s corrupt military mafia and its nefarious spy agency ISI. I strongly condemn this attack on the freedom of media and free speech. This is not just a ban on a private channel but an assertion of authority by Pakistan’s deep state or occupied mercenary armed forces over the rights of people and businesses. The ban also shows that Musharraf’s legacy still controls the country and a lot is needed to be done by freedom and justice loving people. Unfortunately, many media houses, political parties and religious groups danced to the tune of military establishment.
