Happy Birthday to Salmaan Taseer Shaheed
From the Blog pakteahouse By Hassan Naqvi Taseer, a self-made billionaire, one of the bravest voices in favour of marginalized segment of Pakistani society, still stands out for one reason or another even after the four years of his tragic assassination by one member of his security details in Islamabad. As blasphemy cases are being reported frequently, rights activists and the public at large miss Taseer, a Kashmiri descent on his father’s side, for his vocal stand against the misuse of the laws. On the other hand, his self-confessed killer, Mumtaz Qadri, is hailed as a hero to a segment of society. A mosque to his name was constructed in the suburb of Islamabad highlighting the fragmentation of the society. This is not what Taseer envisioned about the Pakistani society. “When I lived abroad he used pakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full Post
She Married for Love
From the Blog sonyarehman *By Sonya Rehman* Farzana Parveen married for love. She let love spring forth in her bosom, its vines propelling her forward, in courage and in hope for a better, more meaningful life. A baby, made with the man she loved, was fast taking shape in her womb. The seed of *their *love. Life within, life in abundance. Man. Woman. Child-to-be. To be an *individual* – living life opakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full Post
24 Hours with Telenor 3G
From the Blog basitali 3G and 4G services have started to commercially roll out in Pakistan. This post is to share my experience with Telenor 3G on the very first day of commercial launch. 1st June, Telenor Pakistan announced commercial launch of 3G services, gives the tarrif out on the website and sends an SMS blast to all to sign up to a package, free trial is over. Pretty much excited, I was expecting speeds and reliability of the 3G connection to improve with the commercial launch, assuming the users will stop using the service the way they were during the free trial. So far, I’ve found myself to be wrong. Here are the findings. Speed Telenor 3G speeds have been similar since the day they launched the trial services. The speed hardly ever goes beyond 1Mbps, hence download speeds of 100 kilobytpakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full Post
