طالبان کی دو قسمیں

From the Blog khawarking طالبان کا موضوع بڑا ہی سنجیدہ اور ذمہ داری سے بات کرنے کا طالب ہے ،۔ اج کے حالات میں ایک ام آدمی کیسے محسوس کر رہا ہے یا کہ اس کو کیسا محسوس کروایا جا رہے ہے ، اس کے متعلق تو لوگ لکھ ہی رہے ہیں ۔ اور انے والے زمانوں کا تاریخ دان ان کی تحاریر سے جو نتائج اخذ کرئے گا ، وہ پڑے الجھے ہوئے ہوں گے، اگر کسی کو ہماری تاریخ مرتب کرنے کی دلچسپی محسوس ہوئی تو !!!ْ۔ جہاں تک میں نے محسوس کیا ہے ، اپنے محدود سے مطالعے اور مشاہدے سے ، کہ طالبان ! جن کو ہم ان دنوں دوہزار چودا میں طالبان کہتے ہیں ۔، ان کو دو کیٹاگری میں تقسیم کرنے کی ضرورت ہے ، ایک افغان طالبان ، اور دوسرے پاکستانی طالبان ۔ افغان طالبان کی پدائش ہمارے سامنے ہوئی ہے ، نوے کی دہائی کے دوسرے "ہاف" میں ، افغانستان سے غیر متوقع طور پر سویت یونین کی فوجوں کے انحلا سے پیدا ہونے والے طاقت کے خلا سے جو انارکی پیدا ہوئی تھی ،اس کے نتpakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

'No one believes the Professor'

From the Blog odysseuslahori I first came to know of the 'Professor' from friend Farjad Nabi's documentary film whose title I have borrowed for this piece. The film features an aging, square-faced rather good-looking man with long hair – the kind of face that belongs in an action film. The impression I got from the first few minutes of the film was that this was an absurd attempt in the tradition of Jonathan Swift through a gross misusing of the main character. But it turned out otherwise. When the show ended, I shook the hand of Orpheus Augustus Marks, who featured in the film, and whom I had earlier noticed among the audience. It was an honour, I told him, to make his acquaintance. Here, I thought, was a man that needed to be discovered.
