USA executed children because someone was too tall!

From the Blog mtrtmk You know, Sean Naylor, who’s a great investigative journalist with deep ties in the military, in his new book that he wrote, he details this story of how they struck a target because he was taller than the other people around him, and they thought that he—that that meant that he was sort of an Arab or a foreign fighter. And it turned out that he was of average size and that the people around him were children. And they killed them all, with the exception of, I think, one survivor. Poetry: October Edition

From the Blog noorsplaceYesterday was astounding + wonderful - I was given the opportunity to host freshmen's orientation program in my college & I couldn't be more excited to pull it off. But of course, it wasn't easy to take it all at once. I tried to do my best and it went so well. TOTALLY ACED IT. Phew!!!! Exactly one year ago, I was sitting in the same auditorium, listening to the similar speeches, trying to make up my mind for what awaited ahead. Little did I know I'd be the one to stand on the same stage, welcoming my juniors. It feels unreal to be the senior and how college is going to end within few months. This is how life goes on. I am just so grateful of every single opportunity I've availed so far.I have some poems to share today. Last time I published my poems was in July. Ch Sarwar Calling UN and EU for Rigging

From the Blog pkhope Chaudhry Sarwar is furious over the defeat of PTI in NA-122. He had guaranteed Imran Khan that he would win that election for him at all costs. Aleem Khan threw money like water all around after this guarantee, but he lost it all. Ch Sarwar has also become embarrassed in front of other PTI leaders especially Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Activism of Chaudhry Sarwar has pushed Qureshi to the back benches. The old guard of PTI is also not happy with the thrills and frills of Sarwar who has landed into the lap of PTI through parachute. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has bestowed all the Punjab affairs to the Chaudhry Sarwar, who is making his own team ignoring all the other groups. By donkey cart to high school

From the Blog odysseuslahoriBack in the mid-1990s, village Sultan Chang near Tando Adam in Sanghar district had only a middle school for boys. Girls too could attend this school, but only until grade five when, by the standards of the Chang Baloch, they were old enough to be married to raise their own families. Reshma Chang who attended school with her younger brother was made of different mettle, however. Raised by an illiterate mother and a livestock farmer of meagre means, she wanted to be a judge when she grew up. When she was in grade five, her brother, her schoolmate and escort, died after a brief illness. With no other ‘man’ available to accompany her to school, parental pressure bore down on Reshma to give off education. The girl resisted and eventually finished primary school. Pak-China: Friends indeed

From the Blog pakteahouse *With relations between China and Pakistan growing stronger, the region is in for a period of economic upheaval* * By Namra Mansoor* [image: Pak-China] On a concrete wall running along a tunnel in the north of Pakistan, a phrase painted along Pakistani and Chinese flags reads, Long live Pak-China Friendship. Having more than just ornamental value, the words have become a household chant and serve as a testimony to the time-tested friendship between the two countries. The relations are only growing in strength each day. Five Pak-China Friendship Tunnels were recently inaugurated in Gilgit-Baltistan region that borders China. Wearable Black Smoky Eyes for Halloween

From the Blog jasminecatchesbutterflies [image: Wearable Black Smoky Eyes for Halloween] Before we go rash and rabid, I wanted to give you guys something wearable to rock this Halloween. So for a more sophisticated look for formal gatherings while still playing the fall and spooky cards, I decided to do a cult classic black smoky eye look. This is fairly simple and you won't even end up looking like a raccoon. I have already worn it three to four times in the past couple of weeks and I am obsessed. The photographs do no justice to the actual impact of this look and too bad the close-ups didn't turn out very well either, but just follow the instructions closely and you will do great on your own. The cost of justice

From the Blog mehmalThe Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan’s decision on Wednesday to maintain the conviction of Mumtaz Qadri by an Anti-Terrorism Court is being hailed as a landmark judgement. Qadri, who had filed an appeal for a reduction in his sentence, was earlier convicted for the assassination of Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer. Qadri killed a man he was duty-bound to protect, but shamelessly maintains he did the right thing. According to Qadri, Shaheed Taseer had committed blasphemy by challenging the blasphemy laws and asking for the pardon of a blasphemy-accused, Aasia Bibi. Less than two months after Taseer’s assassination, Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti was also gunned down. He, too, was vocal about the conviction of Aasia Bibi on alleged blasphemy charges. The Islapakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

The Business of Payment Gateways

From the Blog faisalkhan In my previous post (*Collaboration and not disruption, may just be the key! Stitching together the world of disparate payments*) I discussed on how fragmented the payment system is world over. I want to highlight a problem area that is abundantly documented in the form of posts on forums all over the internet – the ability to take one payment and juxtapose it to another payment platform. In my previous post, I highlighted three examples: 1. There is no way a PayPal payment can land on a bKash wallet in Bangladesh. 2. There is no way Boleto payments can be loaded on to a debit card in Philippines. 3. There is no way for a Dwolla payment to go to Venmo – seamlessly. Defending Digital Freedoms in Pakistan

From the Blog sonyarehman *By Sonya Rehman* This year, one of TIME’s Next Generation Leaders, Nighat Dad, a young Pakistani activist and lawyer based in the city of Lahore, is one of the most significant voices in the country in creating awareness amongst Pakistani women about cyber crimes and cyber harassment. Having founded her not-for-profit, Digital Rights Foundation (DRF) a few years ago, Dad, also a member of Amnesty International’s Advisory Council on Human Rights and Technology, not only focuses her work on coaching Pakistani women about online harassment, but also works on Internet governance in a country where freedom of speech via the Internet has been consistently curtailed and restricted; one major example being the ongoing ban on YouTube by the Pakistani government since 2012. Indian extremists threaten umpire

From the Blog mtrtmk Hindu extremists threaten a Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar, vowing to stop him officiating an ODI between India and South Africa. What is the ICC’s reaction? Absolutely Nothing. Disgraceful. Not a surprise, though. After all ICC has been hijacked by India and the self proclaimed “Big Three”. Update: ICC has decided to withdraw Aleem Dar from the series. Absolutely shameful by BCCI & ICC. Aleem Dar was not in India as a PCB official, but as a representative of the International Cricket Council. So, what is the bottom line? What is the message being sent? If violence is threatened towards match officials, we will bend over backwards to accommodate the thugs and criminals. ICC has chosen to side with the Hindu terrorists. Shame on India, Shame on BCCI, Shame on ICC. pakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

A Sonnet on the Starry Night.

Twenty, thirty, this might never end: We can count and count until morning calls. Their smiles say they do well understand There are less chances we might name all. It might also be true they know secrets of God And so they dance, His love they applaud. — This is the last one for the Writing 201 challenge as it finally ends today after two weeks. Our form was “sonnet” and theme “pleasure”. Filed under: 2015, Poems and poetry pakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

Siyahat-e-Zila Kasur

From the Blog odysseuslahori Zafar Abbas Naqvi is quite a remarkable man — there are scarcely any police inspectors in Pakistan avidly pursuing intellectual interests. And he happens to be one. It is evident that the man was a keen traveller and observer even as a young and impressionable student. His freewheeling may have been curtailed in a small way by his joining of the service in 1997 but that still did not curb his spirit of inquiry. Over the years he thereby built up a large repertoire of travel tales and anecdotes. Add to this a sharp observation of what he sees on the way. From the mundane to the extraordinary natural or built object to stories related by locals Naqvi imbibes all with enthusiasm. Best of all he couples his folk knowledge with a reasonable dash of research. Author of nearly 300 trapakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

Why they had to face such a problem when their daughter did no harm to anyone. The incidence was enough to shatter their spirits. He said that Indian Army had already carried attacks inside another country – Myanmar – by attacking the camps of its rebel leaders and attacking Pakistan Army headquarters would not be something new. Indian Army had “crossed over to Myanmar territory” and launched a massive search involving hundreds of Army men and helicopters to track down the rebels during the operation. Lollywood: Vulgarity On Its Peak In Pakistan!

From the Blog mastitime247 Here I want to draw attention of the readers towards the increased vulgarity in Pakistani showbiz. The actors of Lollywood are becoming so much vulgar that they are completely forgetting that they are Muslims and representing Pakistan. We notice this in the lux style awards where they dress up so openly that it becomes difficult to accept the reality that they are Muslims and belong to an Islamic state. This kind of appearance is putting negative impact on the younger generation of our country. Not only this but now a days we can see that the films which are being released in Lollywood are also not worth watching. The dialogues, dresses, movie themes as well as movie titles are also cheap. This should be controlled as soon as possible. Because of this we are getting away from opakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

Wealth Report: Pakistan Middle Class Larger & Richer Than India's

From the Blog riazhaqPakistan's middle class consists of over 6.27 million adults, according to wealth criteria used by Credit Suisse in its Global Wealth Report 2015. It represents 5.7% share of Pakistan's total adult population of 111 million, almost twice as large as India's middle class made up of 3% of its adult population based on the same criteria. Average ($4,459) and median ($2,216) wealth figures for Pakistani middle class adults are higher than average ($4,352) and median ($868) wealth figures for their Indian middle class counterparts. It's a consequence of lower income wealth inequality in Pakistan compared to its neighbor. For comparison, only 1.1% of Bangladesh adult population qualify as middle class. Their average wealth is $2,201 and median wealth $1,102 per adult. Pakistan Wealpakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

From the Blog the-emo-wolverine-writes [image: 22088645]When the Angels attack, there’s NO REST FOR THE WICKED. Father Montgomery, an elderly priest with a secret past, begins to investigate after his parishioners come under attack, and with the help of Jones, a young businessman with an estranged child, Montgomery begins to track down the origin of the Angels. The Angels are naked and androgynous. They speak in a dreadful harmony with no clear leader. These aren’t biblical cherubs tasked with the protection of the righteous – these are deadly creatures of light that have the power to completely eradicate. When Jones himself is attacked, Father Montgomery knows he has to act fast. He speaks to the Angels and organises a final showdown where he’s asked to make the ultimate sacrifice. -Goodreads This book was providepakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

Foreign Aid to Pakistan: Blessing or Curse?

From the Blog riazhaqThis year's Nobel Prize winning economist Angus Deaton of Princeton University considers foreign aid to developing nations a curse like the oft-mentioned resource curse of energy and mineral-rich nations of Africa and the Middle East. Deaton has studied poverty in India and Africa and spent many decades working at the World Bank whose charter it is to fight poverty. He argues that, by trying to help poor people in developing countries, the rich world may actually be corrupting those nations' governments and slowing their growth and hurting the poor in the process. Prof William Easterly of New York University has published a paper titled "Can Foreign Aid Buy Growth?" that supports the view that increase in foreign aid has reduced economic growth in Africa. Islah: explained further

From the Blog ashrafiya An intelligent question was put foward by a reader, Dear Sir, as salamu alaykum I’m a middle class working male. I’m married and have 3 beautiful children. My life revolves around my work and family. All praise is for Allah! I stay away from the major sins. I pray puntually, mostly in mosque with congregation (*jamah*).
