From the Blog ranaii-e-khayal ہماری اردو میں انگریزی اس بُری طرح گُھسی ہوئی ہے کہ چاہیں بھی تو اُسے نکالا نہیں جا سکتا۔ لیکن بات یہ ہے کہ دراصل حکم (زبان) تو اُسی کا چلتا ہے کہ جو بالا دست ہو۔ انگریز نے جو ترقی کی اُسے ہم بڑی خوشی سے اپناتے گئے ساتھ ساتھ اُس ترقی کے ساتھ در آنے والی نئی اصطلاحات بھی ہمارے روز مرہ میں شامل ہوتی گئیں۔ بہت سی نئی چیزیں ہم تک انگریزوں سے براہِ راست اور کچھ انگریزوں کی وساطت سے پہنچی ۔ سو اُن کے نام اور اُن سے متعلقہ اصطلاحات انگریزی میں ہی ہمارے ہاں رواج پا گئیں۔ اسی لئے ہمارے پاس فریج، کُولر، ہیٹر، واشنگ مشین ، جوسر، بلینڈرز اور اسی قسم کی بے تحاشہ اشیا کے لئے کوئی اردو نام نہیں ہیں۔ اب بات یہاں تک آگئی کہ ہمارے ہاں بھی کوئی نئی چیز ایجاد ہو تو اُس کا نام انگریزی میں ہی رکھا جاتا ہے۔(یہ الگ بات کہ ایسی نوبت ہی شاذ ہی کبھی آتی ہے)۔ شاید اس کی ایک وجہ یہ بھی ہو کہ انگریزی نام سےpakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

It took years of sleepless nights for her to summon the courage to come out to her parents. But at a TEDx event in Lahore last October, she was swamped by men and women seeking autographs and selfies after a performance and address that drew a standing ovation. "Till you don't fight for your rights and your truth, you can't expect a positive change," Ali said, and the battle has been long. In the 19th century, the region's British rulers had labeled the Indian subcontinent's transgender community a "criminal tribe."
