From the Blog hasnatsheikh [image: Image] In January 2011, Governor of Punjab ,a man called Salman Taseer was shot dead by his own bodyguard for speaking against Pakistan penal code 295 (The blasphemy laws) which in his guards opinion counted as disrespect for the Holy Prophet PBUH.Taseer stood up for this because in his own words, “The thing I find disturbing is that if you examine the cases of the hundreds tried under this law, you have to ask how many of them are well-to-do? Why is it that only the poor and defenceless are targeted? How come over 50 per cent of them are Christians when they form less than 2 percent of the country’s population.
