Prophets of the Twentieth Century

This'll have to do, I guess.* image by the wonderful @pathipen To the observant mind, the relationship of science fiction with original scientific discovery is very much a symbiotic one. This much is very clear from how the development of the genre coincides with periods of the 20th century filled with ground-breaking scientific discovery. As scientists were expanding their perception of the cosmos, writers were awakening humanity's imagination to the possibilies that these discoveries now opened up. None more so than in the 1940s, often referred to as the Golden Age of Science Fiction.
