Drones – A Necessary Evil

From the Blog borderlinegreen Following essay by Nihaan Shehzad won a consolation prize in the Borderline Green Writing Competition. "Sometimes you've got to think about the greater good! This is war!" – J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows The Greater Good defined, in simple words, as the sacrifice of oneself or others, for a purpose that delivers a net utility to all of mankind. In other words, an idea, which may entail the sacrifice of what may be entirely innocent, at the altar of a superior communal motive, while also lending legitimacy to acts that are antagonistic to human morality and compassion. On the face of it, the concept of the greater good is one of ruthless practicality, a concept which celebrates not individual rights, but the preservation of the rights of the majority. In a perpetual state of mourning

From the Blog pakteahouse By Saad Hafiz: Tens of thousands of people have been killed in extremist violence in Pakistan since the late 1980s. The country has earned a reputation for being a hotbed of extremism and violence. The latest atrocity is the bomb blasts in Quetta targeting the Shia minority, which killed and injured over 200 people. The self-contained killing machines of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) and their acolytes are operating at full capacity and with total impunity, butchering vulnerable communities at will. James Madison aptly described this responsibility: "It is of great importance for a republic npakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments
