Cooking with a Toddler

Sometimes I get a tip in advance and on other times I have to rely on trial and error method. When I discover a parenting idea on my own I get really excited just as I am now while writing this post. I had already written it a couple of days ago and it was waiting in my drafts section for me to post. But I had no intention of publishing this post until I read, Recipe for Cooking With Toddlers by Michelle Stern from WhatsCookingWithKids.com. Today I am going to share with you a new recipe along with some tips on cooking for a toddler. I had a shared with you a favorite recipe of my daughter earlier. Read more here Cooking for a toddler Cooking with a toddler can be frustrating as long as you try not to involve your little one in it. You can make it a fun and learning experience for your child by following some simple tips: Make your kitchen toddler proof before allowing your toddler to start cooking. Get yourself prepared for a little mess. Don't panic when your toddler try to touch things around and gently tell her to help you in the cooking process while keeping your tone cheerful. (I get panicky if she holds a knife in her hand so better get things out of the way you don't want your toddler to touch.) Explain every step of the recipe and tell her the names of the ingredients and utensils. To make it more fun you can sing, dance or perform your toddler's favorite activity while cooking. Let your toddler hold things you think are safe enough to work with. It'll give your toddler confidence and the feeling of being a part of the activity. Now here is the recipe I made with my daughter: Easy French Toast Recipe Ingredients: Egg 1 Milk 1/2 cup Bread 3 slices(cut them in 4 small pieces each) Sugar 2tbsp Oil/Butter 2tbsp Instructions: Whisk egg and sugar together in a bowl. Let your toddler help you a bit by holding the whisk for sometime or you can ask your toddler to pass it to you. Pour in milk and mix them well until sugar is dissolved. Heat the pan on medium heat and spray oil on it. Dip the bread slices in the mixture and fry until they are a golden color from both sides. Get it on a plate and let it cool, then serve.
