a country for mediocrities?

From the Blog That's Wrong!: Pakistan: a country for mediocrities? - You never see a young successful person in Pakistan. Success in this country only makes love with people who have grey hair, few teeth and wrinkled skin. We don’t have young billionaires in Pakistan. Recently, a friend convinced me that Pakistan is a hostile country for genius people. This is the main reason behind brain drain from Pakistan. We don't see brainy people around. All we have around us are those people who used to have an ordinary intelligence, but they have an experience of 25 years in their relevant field. On the contrary, West is full with young entrepreneurs who have excelled in their fields. The most recent example is of facebook founder and developer. The most competent doctor you have in your circle used to be an ordinary student. He was unable to get a government job and also failed to specialise. He returned to his hometown and started general practice. For more then 20 years, he has remained punctual prescribing medicines to people ailing with cold, fever and diarrhea. But now he is one of the most 'competant' doctor in the city. His clinic is always crowded with patients. Let me narrate a common story. Your father's intelligent friends from university days have gone to Germany, England or America. Your father was an ordinary student with mediocre grades. He started his career and after 20 years of hardwork, he becomes a successful person. There is something in our society which encourages hardwork of 20 years, but condescendingly discourages new ideas and young people. PS : The friend is Hassan Rauf Atee from Sahiwal. .
