Why Western democracies are surviving and flourishing because political parties are run democratically and new dynamic and young leadership which is reasonably experienced is available to replace older lot. The nursery of this new leadership are local bodies or local councils. Its unfortunate that democratic governments of Pakistan's record of local bodies election is poor if not pathetic. Local bodies elections only took place during military rule. We are unable to held local bodies election in last 10 years despite we have democratic governments. There are many reasons but the biggest tis hat most of MP's not like new crop of politicians who may challenge them in next parliamentary elections.
