Famous Street Renamed to 'Muhammad Ali Jinnah Way' in US
From the Blog propakistani Standing up to its promise, the local council of New York has formally inaugurated the "Mohammad Ali Jinnah Way" in Brooklyn. On December 25 – Quaid's birthday – the New York City Council made a resolution to honor the founder of Pakistan. The step to rename the Coney Island Avenue –where Pakistani community lives in significant numbers – as "Mohammad Ali Jinnah Way" was a result of years of hard work and lobbying by the Pakistan American Youth Organization (PAYO). City council member Jumaane Williams, the man behind the success of this resolution, inaugurated the avenue -and a large number of Pakistanis turned in to make the moment memorable with loud chants of 'Pakistan zindabad.'
