Helping for a righteous cause
From the Blog ashrafiya *Sayyidi* *wa **sanadi* Mufti Mohammed Taqi Usmani (Allah protect & preserve him) was recording the Tafsir of Surah Maidah. On reaching the following verse: *وَتَعَاوَنُوا* *عَلَى* *الْبِرِّ* *وَالتَّقْوَى* *وَلَا* *تَعَاوَنُوا* *عَلَى* *الْإِثْمِ* *وَالْعُدْوَان* "And help each other in righteousness and piety, and do not help each other in sin and aggression." Shaykh explained: "Here, the command is to help each other in righteousness. This helping in righteousness is not limited to any group, party, race, etc., rather we are commanded to help each other on the basis of the cause being righteous. Nowadays one thing which can stop someone from cooperating with others in righteousness is the desire to get credit for something.
