Dictionary of Linguistic Terms (English Urdu)
From the Blog linguisticslearnerI am a translator. Yes, I am not a 'scholarly' translator. Even being a freelance translator, I feel helpless when there are no resources. Well, for me, resources are dictionaries, terminologies and word banks which help me translate quickly and efficiently. It is very hard to re-invent the wheel every time, when I do not find a standard translation of an English word. I must also admit that I am very lazy and try my best not to open any manual dictionary. So I am left online searching non-standard sources to find an equivalent of a given English term. The situation is not very promising. We need to digitize English Urdu dictionaries and terminology banks. From the Blog awaz-e-dostکسی مترجم کے لیے لغات اور فرہنگیں بالکل وہی حیثیت رکھتی ہیں جو راج مستری کے لیے ہتھوڑی چھینی یا فوجی کے لیے بندوق کی ہوتی ہے۔ ترجمے کے میدان میں کسی بھی قسم کے کارہائے نمایاں و غیر نمایاں سرانجام نہ دے سکنے کے بعد ہم نے فیصلہ کیا کہ دوسرے مترجمین اور ان کے ساتھ اپنا بھی بھلا کر لیا جائے۔ اسی بھلے کے سلسلے میں مقتدرہ قومی زبان کی مذکورہ بالا فرہنگِ لسانیات انتہائی بدمعاشی اور کسی بھی قسم کے کاپی رائٹس کا خیال نہ کرتے ہوئے اسکین کی گئی ہے۔ مقصد اردو لسانیات کی کتب ترجمہ کرنے والوں کے لیے اصطلاحات کا کم از کم ایک معیار مہیا کرنا ہے، تاکہ مترجم کو ترجمے کے ساتھ ساتھ اصطلاحات کا پہیہ بھی دوبارہ ایجاد نہ کرنا پڑے۔ اصطلاحات سازی میں معیار بندی ہی دراصل وہ کلید ہے جو چند برسوں کے اندر اندر اس ملک میں ایسے مترجم اور ترجمہ ساز ادارے قائم کر سکتی ہے جن کی ترجمہ شدہ کتب کو پڑھنے کے لیے قاری pakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full Post

LOGICAL CONCLUSION — REALLY?
From the Blog pkhope Nawaz Sharif's words of 'taking the on-going operation to its logical conclusion' are intriguing. Almost every enlightened person living in Pakistan understands that taking the operation to it logical conclusion means wiping out of entire ruling elite which is responsible for the plight of hapless countrymen during last 30-40 years. Their endless lust for money, directionless-ness and filthy politics aimed at beguiling the ignorant Pakistanis in the name of religion, ethnicity, caste & creed etc has brought Pakistan at brink of disaster. Not many of us can even conceive how low have we fallen in comity of nations. One can realize that humiliation only if we get out of Pakistani borders.
