Civil Disobedience is just not cricket
From the Blog pakteahouse [image: Imran Khan] By Yasser Latif Hamdani I was very young but I still remember the 1987 semi final in Lahore. Imran Khan was given out unfairly by Dickie Bird. Pakistan went on to lose to Australia. Five years later Imran Khan, one of the most successful captains in the history of cricket, lifted the World Cup in Australia. Now imagine if Imran Khan had announced civil disobedience at Gaddafi Stadium in 1987 because he was sent to the pavilion unfairly? Civil disobedience is not cricket. It is always a desperate move. Breaking the law, even an unjust law, is calling forth anarchy. There is no point quoting the example of Dr King or of Solidarity in Poland- the ground realities there were quite different.
