Moving on and Demanding more from Democracy
From the Blog borderlinegreen Winston Churchill once said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried. After the elections that saw 60% Pakistanis vote, I say to all nay-sayers of democracy for Pakistan – if there is anything we need its more democracy. We are too opinionated a nation to have any form of rule imposed on us. The fact that we get confused by these opinions to let it go unnoticed when somebody decides to rule us, without being elected, over-dressed (usually in khakis) and for decades on end – is besides the point. I do hope the addiction is irreversible! I am no political idealist or loyalist – I have and will shift political allegiances based on who is more likely than the other to deliver on issues I deem most critical.
