From the Blog farazhasan [image: Expert]Being away from your home country can be a challenging proposition at the best of times and I recently realised that it becomes more so when you have elections taking place back home and all you can do is sit afar and wait for the results to pour in. This was mainly because, to nobody's surprise, the decision to give overseas Pakistanis the right to be part of the electoral process was delayed up until the last few days before the elections and even then the decision meant that we can only vote from 2018. In any case, May 11, 2013 was an important day for all Pakistanis because it was a day that we expected would usher in a change in the fortunes of the country.
