The Awakening – Pinching the common man awake! (Introduction)
From the Blog Eddy Straight From The Heart: The Awakening – Pinching the common man awake! (Introduction) - “I begin with the name of Allah, the most merciful”. A couple of years back I used to be a firm believer in the accepted laws and mores of the world society. I would, like many around me take pride in being a supporter of democracy in the world in general and in Pakistan in particular. I believed that this country was truly the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and that Islam was the basis of its existence. I had faith in this nation and its ability to rise again and get noticed. I thought of the people as victims and the system as the main offender. Then I woke up. The constant differential between reality and make-belief proved to be a catalyst jolting my mind to think differently. I realized how my intelligence has been mocked for decades and how I have lived a lie for years. This is an effort to awaken the people of this country to reality and to put the mirror of truth in front of them so that they could see how hideous the so called "common man" has become. It is a "common" practice for us to blame the system. To say that the police are unjust, to complain that the traffic sergeant is corrupt and to blame the filth on the roads on the municipal department has become our common topic of discussion. To point out that the parliament is filled with people unworthy of such positions is a debate we heavily participate in. The question however is, would you want the traffic sergeant to be just and fair when it is your son who is caught driving without a license. Look around you and you would find on a daily basis, thousands of underage drivers handling a car or a motor bike and making the roads an unsafe place to be. Are they the system? Are they the department? Are they the government representatives? NO. They are a part of what we call the common man, the common man who elected those corrupt politicians and put them on the helms of affair to bleed this country to oblivion. I have decided that the common man needs to see what a wretched being it has become. Spitting on the face of the very "mother"-land that we vow to protect is a common practice in our country. Lying for petty gains and abusing habitually is the training that a toddler receives in his early learning phase. A person who has control over his anger is considered a coward and an abusive, brash bore of a man is our role model. In a country where Maula Jutt rules the hearts of millions, there is very little room for compassion. "The awakening" is a continuous process and over a period of time it will put forth many scenarios where a common man can make a difference without really having to change the "system". We are the system, it supplies what we demand. We have to stop demanding corruption and it will die its own death. Until next time, try to make a difference and keep your mind open for the mistakes that you make because the first person you need to educate is "yourself". . Read Full Post
Younis Khan – A Hero's Reply!
From the Blog Eddy Straight From The Heart: Younis Khan – A Hero's Reply! - “I begin with the name of Allah, the most merciful”. The Dubai test ended in a draw. The savior of Pakistan is that man again, Younis Khan. What this performance does is pose a question. Wasn't it a crime on the part of the PCB chairman to have deprived the country of the services of such a star solely on the basis of personal likes and dislikes? In a team where people like Imran Farhat have played only due to their political backings, was it fair for a truthful professional like Younis to have stayed out for so long? Who is going to make up for the losses and humiliation that the cricket team has come across due to the absence of seniors like Younis, Yousuf and Misbah? For about a year and a half the PCB has failed to realize that making a player into a star takes years of effort and investment. There were days when Younis had not scored a century for 80 odd ODIs and was still persisted with because of his promise, much like Omer Akmal today. Now Younis Khan is an international stalwart and a force to reckon with. He has quietly, without fervor, with a raise of the bat slapped the unjust administration on the face much like he slapped the ball out of the ground for a six! The Dubai test and its final result with Pakistan saving the match and Younis scoring 131 (230) is a good omen for the men in green. They still the fight in them and are still good enough for international competition. Go Green! . Read Full Post

Amitabh Bachchan provides cheque to Kaun Banega Crorepati winner
From the Blog Speak Your Mind!!!: Amitabh Bachchan provides cheque to Kaun Banega Crorepati winner - Although I hardly watch Kaun Banega Crorepati, but what I’ve always liked about it is the fact that people are very simple & Amitabh does the show with so much humility. People talk about their personal issues so openly on the show sometimes. If their family is not talking to them for whatever reason, they strongly believe that they might see them on Kaun Banega Crorepati & will forgive them. Mostly people participate cause they need the money. But sometimes people become too greedy & even lose what they have already won. Actually it happened with someone lately on the show & even Amitabh was in a state of shock as the guy was playing very nicely, but then he became greedy. But most importantly, it’s the simplicity of people that I find quite fascinating. We hardly see simple people now. . Read Full Post
