One Minute Kindness – 2

From the Blog Power of Thought: One Minute Kindness – 2 - Some time back, I wrote 'One Minute Kindness' on this blog. Simple, yet powerful. Here comes Part II! I was reading Rajesh Setty's blog Life Beyond Code in which he quotes every day anecdotes about Thoughtfulness… He talks about an email that he received from a friend in Sweden, who was a long time employee of Volvo remembering his early days at the organization. I am reproducing the email below: " The first time I was in Sweden, one of my colleagues picked me up at the hotel every morning. It was September, bit cold and snowy. We would arrive early at the company and he would park far away from the entrance (2000 employees drive their car to work). The first day, I didn't say anything, either the second or third. One morning I asked, "Do you have a fixed parking space? I've noticed we park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot." To which he replied, "Since we're here early we'll have time to walk, and whoever gets in late will be late and need a place closer to the door. Don't you think?" This makes me wonder, how many of us would go out of the way and help someone who we don't even know. Knowing too well that the one being helped may never find out who did this act of kindness. No 'thank you' would ever be received for this. But, this would definitely put a smile on someones face. Make his/her day… And in turn, make YOU feel MISERABLE? Hell NO! You feel like a king (queen). Like you've just been bestowed upon the highest honor. You feel like you're on the top of the world! Remember: Whenever YOU did something like that, how did YOU feel? Didn't you feel the glow of happiness all around you? Which you could have never gotten by 'buying' or getting things. Simple acts of kindness, done thoughtfully could change people's lives, including ours. Yet, very few of us think about it. We may THINK about it, but don't DO IT, not regularly – at least. Have you , or someone you know, ever performed these small acts of kindness & made someone's day? Please share with us. In Regina Brett's words: 'Do something nice for someone….And don't tell anyone about it!' I'd like you to visit Rajesh's blog , it's awesome! Dare to Dream. Have a remarkable life. Nuruddin Abjani .
