Top five things I LOVE about Karachi Winters
From the Blog Kanwalful meets world: Top five things I LOVE about Karachi Winters - 1. How it snows white flakes on everyone’s faces, thanks to the extremely dry weather. Whoever said it does not snow in Karachi is a senseless twit with a roasted, empty peanut shell for a brain. 2. The smell of it. Just between you and me, I honestly think the supply of fish increases in winters in Karachi because the number of trawlers on the road increase and it smells of stale fish quite often in some areas. Or maybe cold air just transmits bad smells better. Either way the excruciatingly beautiful smell of stale fish in the winters takes my breath away. And I’m not just saying it. 3. Not having to turn on the darn air conditioner. Sleeping in REAL air is so much more peaceful. 4. Not having to wear huge jackets because the cold is just enough to make you look good. A pretty sweater or two is enough to keep you warm. And that is exactly why Karachi is more fashionable than Lahore. Even mother nature in Karachi is in sync with the latest trends and LOOKING good. Even though she is old and stuff. 5. The unlimited supply of oranges because of which most of the day is spent answering the call of nature. Obviously if you eat 10 oranges a day – which you almost have to because Pakistani oranges are AMAZING – your poor excretory system will go bonkers. What do you like about winters? It’s okay if you are not cool enough to be living in Karachi. Being the open minded person that I am, I really do want to know what winter means to other un-cool species on planet earth. Sikander expressing his joy at the first flakes of snow this winter, to his mother. . Read Full Post

From the Blog REALITY and ILLUSION: Angelina Jolie, "UN Ambassador" - Following the devastating floods in Pakistan, and the world’s indifferent response to the colossal damage to the country, not to mention the sufferings of some 20 million people, the UN eventually managed to pack off the comely – or, unappealing, depending on your point of view – actress to Pakistan. Her stay in Pakistan proved quite eventful. . Read Full Post

A step towards a progressive Pakistan
From the Blog Jahane Rumi: Asma Jahangir's election: A step towards a progressive Pakistan - Asma Jahangir's victory in the Supreme Court Bar Association elections is a momentous event in the country's political and legal landscape. Even the worst of her critics grudgingly admit that her principled stance has remained consistent in a country where intellectual honesty and integrity are in short supply. More importantly, her reasoned approach to recent . Read Full Post
Pakistan media trivializes everything!
From the Blog Let us build Pakistan: Pakistan media trivializes everything! - All I had to do was to read the headline and it made sense. In Pakistan, you are damned if you do, damned if you don't! The recent nomination of ex-Senator Dr. Khalid Ranjha, a PML linked politician is now being painted as a nomination by PPP's Latif Khosa. It just doesn't make sense. . Read Full Post
