From the Blog odysseuslahoriI first met him in the summer of 1979. I was walking down the stairway in either the city courts building or the metropolitan building of Karachi and he was on the way up. He wore a Coast Guards uniform with a subedar's two pips on his shoulders and his chest was a blaze of World War II ribbons. I, fresh out of the army, knew what the colourful ribbons meant and could recognise all of them. He wore the War Medal 1939-45, Africa Star and Burma Star. There were, besides, the Independence medal, the 1956 Constitution medal, Kashmir medal (1948) and the 1965 medals. He would have then retired for he did not have anything to show for the 1971 conflict. As he looked up, he caught me staring at his chest. A Solution is Always There

From the Blog awaz-e-dostچاچے جاپانی کے گوڈے کا حال پڑھ کر سوچا اپنی بپتا بھی سنائی جائے. بپتا کیا اپنے ہاتھوں سے ہاتھوں کا بیڑہ غرق کیا ہے. پچھلے ڈیڑھ برس میں ماؤس اور کی بورڈ کئی کئی گھنٹے اس طرح استعمال کیا کہ اب ہتھیلی کے درمیان سے گزرنے والی عصب جو تین انگلیوں اور انگوٹھے کو کنٹرول کرتی ہے دب گئی. بیماری کا نام کارپل ٹنل سنڈروم ہے. پہلے انگلیاں سونے لگتی ہیں، پھر سوئیاں چبھنے کا احساس وقت گزرنے کے ساتھ ساتھ شدید ہوتا چلا جاتا ہے، میرا حال یہ ہے کہ اب دو منٹ بھی ٹائپ کر لوں تو انگوٹھے سے اوپر کی طرف درد کی لہر اٹھتی ہے اور جلن کا سا احساس ہوتا ہے. بیماری لمبے عرصے تک برقرار رہے تو مذکورہ حصے کے پٹھے کمزور ہونے لگتے ہیں. ٹائپنگ کُجا اب ڈنڈ پیلنے اور آٹا گوندھنے جیسے کام بھی کچھ عرصے کے لیے چھوڑ دئیے ہیں تا کہ عصب جو کلائی یا رِسٹ مڑنے سے دب جاتی ہے اسے آرام ملے. علاج درد کش گولیاں، کلائی کی حرکات محدوpakistanblogs.blogspot.comRead Full PostComments

Shame on Sony

From the Blog mtrtmk Bought Sony Bravia (LED) Television in Pakistan (not a knockoff). Went with Sony and coughed up more money because you expect that a big brand like Sony would be better quality and reliable. Less than two years after purchase, the TV is not working. A red light flashes 6 times. This flashing of six times according to Sony manuals is a code representing specific problems with the unit. Had to pay substantial money to have it repaired, only for the problem to re-surface a few months later. If you do an internet search on Sony Bravia and these flashing red light codes, it is apparent that the problem lies with Sony. They have sold substandard and defective televisions.
