New year's night.. (poem by me)

From the Blog Spring of Autumn: New year's night.. (poem by me) - Today when the last sun of 2010 rose,I thought of a new sun,new morning which will bring hopes, pleasures and joys for all of us and our country. When I looked back in past I realized that peace of heart is something which we cannot get by going into caves and passing rest of life in solitary, but by sharing the sorrows of other people. We can achieve happiness, and can make others happy by our presence. There is just a little need of painting a rainbow full of love, joy, happiness, care and affection on the sky of our heart! Here are few poetic lines, few random thoughts of mine. (I know its not perfect, honest comments are appreciated) As I pass through the autumn fields, And the leaves crushing beneath my feet. The  rhythm of  love and joy prevails, As  I   silently  swish     my       trails. Beyond my thoughts, away from hopes, Soothing is my land, fresh is my soul. Finding serene in a solitary bliss, Hidden is the sanity,in the dewy eye drips, As December sets,a new sun rise, Enlightens new hopes, reviving fresh lives Lets join hands, wipe weary eyes, This is how,I rejoice New Year’s night. WISH YOU ALL     “ A HAPPY NEW YEAR” . Read Full PostComments

Laal – Meray Dil Meray Musafir (Official Music Video)

From the Blog Koolmuzone: Laal – Meray Dil Meray Musafir (Official Music Video) - Laal presents "Meray Dil, Meray Musafir" dedicated to the Birth Centenary of Faiz Ahmed Faiz . The music video is a new interpretation of Faiz's iconic poem "Dil e Man, Musafir e Man". While Faiz wrote this poem about exile, this video explores Marx's concept of alienation within the context of modern industrial capitalism. None of the individuals within the video are actors. Comrade Irfan plays his and his family's shared experiences. In fact, every single role has been played by individuals who actually live these lives. The video was shot in the industrial areas of Lahore (Greentown, Multan Road, Defence Road, Ilaqa Nawab Sahib). Laal's music is about real people and real struggles. Inqalab Zindabad! Band: Laal Song: Meray Dil Meray Musafir Poet: Faiz Ahmed Faiz Composition / Arrangement: Taimur Rahman Mixing / Mastering: Jamal Rahman Direction: Taimur Rahman and Mahvash Waqar Acting: Comrade Irfan, Raheela, Natasha, Tehseen, Touseef. Dell Vostro 3700 [Laptop Preview]

From the Blog ProPakistani: Dell Vostro 3700 [Laptop Preview] - Dell Vostro 3700 is a post from: ProPakistani Manufacturers: Dell Class: Dell Vostro Model: Vostro 3700 Price: Rs. 62,000 approx Specs Overview: Operating System: Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit Processor: Intel Core i3 370M (2.4GHz) Graphics card: Integrated Intel Graphics Card RAM: 2 GB DDR3 Hard Drive: 250 GB, 7200 RPM Battery: 6 cell, 5 hours max Display: 17.3" LED Display (1600 x 900) DVD-ROM: 8x DVD R/W with Double-Layer R/W capability Webcam: 2.0 MP Integrated Webcam Wireless: Wireless Network Card 802.11b/g/n Bluetooth: Dell Wireless Bluetooth 2.1 Module "Looks Good": Vostro series has made an impression with its humble but resourceful appearance. It has volume, play/pause, rewind, Bluetooth, wifi and some other functions that offer single touch activation. Its surface, unlike its competitors (HP Pavilion), is not glossy and will not get your finger prints all over itself. Overall it's a tidy and neatly designed system. Gaming gone bad: If you aim to play games requiring high end systems, this is not your system. The base configuration has a built-in Intel Graphics card which lacks in quality as compared to NVIDIA or ATI graphics card. I have experience with all three cards and Intel cards lack much behind in terms of video quality and effects. There is an option to add a 1GB NVIDIA card to the system but that would cost you another Rs. 8,000 or so. So if you have the money, you can certainly go for a better gaming card. "Runs like the Wind": The laptop is pretty impressive in terms of speed even with an i3 processor and 2GB RAM. On this system multi tasking is faster as compared to the systems having core2duo processors and larger RAM capacity. If you are still hungry for more speed, the laptop can be upgraded with an i7 processor and a RAM up to 8GB. Overheating Cores: Although the system is pretty good in terms of speed, its cooling system isn't able to keep up with it. Vostro 3700 has had overheating issues with many users. This problem is not much in systems having i3 processors but if you have an i7 processor, this problem will be much more evident. This is also pretty much the problem if you have a high end graphics card added to your configuration. Some users also face issues of loud noise from the power supply and fan. However when this problem was reported to Dell by a user, they were of the view "its normal". Pre-Installed Software: The preinstalled software includes the latest Microsoft Office with reduced functionality (which means nothing besides Excel and Word would work), Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security services (15 month Trial) and of course a legal copy of Windows 7. It must be mentioned that giving a 15 month subscribed anti-virus software is very generous of Dell and most companies don't give subscriptions for more than 3 months mostly. Dell will also offer you to buy some more software for your laptop for less than the market price. Dell has also stopped giving the win-7 recovery Discs and you will have to make them yourself. Poor Speakers: The speakers are somewhat small and lack in terms of quality as well. Sound is usually very low and if you don't use a headphone, it will be difficult to hear properly most of the time. Since Dell has had very good quality speakers on its other models such as XPS, these speakers are a big drawback to the system. Heavy Machinery: This system is a little heavy to carry around with you. With the standard 6 cell battery it weighs about 2.7Kg. This weight is a little too much because dell has had much lighter laptops is both, high and low end systems. This weight also comes as a surprise because a weight around 3Kg can only be justified if you are using a 9 cell battery. Official Rating: 4/5 Underline: It is a good system for office, home and business applications but would not let you play heavy games or use very heavy software. If you have the money go for a better system. We told you about how Salman, his family and close friends including Sajid Nadiadwala flew into the city to celebrate his birthday on December 27. And when it came to the actual party, Katrina joined the group. Salman celebrated his birthday at Caramel Restaurant and Lounge with his family and Kat for company. The party went on till 2am. After that cool party bonding, it does look like all’s well once again with Salman and Katrina. This woman is such an opportunist. One guy leaves her & she goes back to the option she has never closed. And Salman Khan is one idiot. Lately she was even rectifying her stupid statement that she has worked with Akshay in 7 movies & there can't be any comparison between Akshay & Salman, as she hasn't worked in so many movies with Salman. She was quite sure about it on the show few days ago when Ranbir didn't give her a ditch for another woman. Had it been someone else, I might have said it's going to be another interesting episode, but I just can't say this about Salman Khan. And it's beyond me that people want to stay in relationship all the time & in this case, Katrina Kaif hides those relationships even better than how cats hide their shit. . Read Full PostComments

It was a very realistic set up. Having said that it was a lot of fun as well, something that I was longing for.” One hopes to have some fun as well when this Aanand L Rai directed film featuring Kangna as Tanu releases all over on 25th February. . Stop Pets From Being Sold To Research Labs

From the Blog Speak Your Mind!!!: Stop Pets From Being Sold To Research Labs - The U.S. Pet Safety and Protection Act would prohibit Class B Dealers — people who make their livings selling animals to the research industry — and unlicensed individuals from selling dogs and cats to research labs. Currently, under the Animal Welfare Act of 1966, these people aren’t held accountable for where they obtain their animals. Passing the Pet Safety and Protection will ensure that stolen pets and animals acquired illegally or unethically won’t end up in research facilities. [Press Statement] Solidarity Day 2011

From the Blog Teeth Maestro: [Press Statement] Solidarity Day 2011 - Islamabad, 30 December 2010: Aman Ittehad has given a call to hold rallies on 1st January 2011 at 1:00 pm as an expression of solidarity with those suffering violence in any form, including suicide attacks, bomb blasts, target killings, kidnappings, disappearances, and torture killings. It is expected that these rallies will be held in more than 100 different locations across Pakistan While raising the issue of growing insecurities across Pakistan, Aman Ittehad has demanded urgent action to devise a political solution to ensure the security of life and livelihood of the people of Balochistan according to their aspirations and in a manner that helps restore trust. It calls upon the state to refrain from the use of force and immediately end military action in the province.  Aman Ittehad calls for mechanisms that provide effective recourse to those that are suffering at the hands of representatives of state institutions, influentials, extremists and militants who are using the current lack of law and order to exploit citizens by propagating terror and the use of force. Citizens from across the country will participate in the Solidarity Day rallies to demand that people's interest becomes the only measure of national interest to define all actions and policies of the state. The rallies will condemn the use of political, military or economic power for oppression or exploitation of citizens. They will also demand an end to the protection of state and non-state actors that take the law in their own hands and propagate or encourage militancy and extremism by their words or actions. Aman Ittehad is a citizen platform that is striving for peace, democracy and justice in Pakistan. It calls for a shift in Pakistan from a security to a welfare state. The Solidarity Day is an expression of the power of ordinary citizens, and a call to exercise their choice and free will. Solidarity Day 2011 Aman Ittehad Press Statement – PDF . 3 Websites to Help You Keep Track of Your New Year's Resolutions

From the Blog Housewife's Utopia: 3 Websites to Help You Keep Track of Your New Year's Resolutions - Making a new year's resolutions is one thing and keeping it while you achieve the end result is another. Most of you must be thinking of things that you want to do in the next year like quitting smoke, losing weight or reading a particular novel etc. As for me, I want to be more active on my blog and write more frequently than before among so many other to-do things. I have made a resolution but how can I keep it? Simple mom has written an excellent post to address this issue. Check it out here, " The Value of Accountability for Achieving Your Goals " Okay now that you have realized the importance of accountability to achieve your goals, who would you choose to keep an eye on your progress? I have a few suggestions for you. Use theses websites to help you keep track of your new year's resolutions in 2011.   Coolendar A very simple and easy to use website. You can sign in with your google account. This website helps you create lists of  your important dates and events instead of marking them up on matrix-like calendar. You'll get reminders through email and google talk. Start a Resolution This is also a very simple website. Start a resolution by typing your resolution in a circle. You will be assigned a coach. A coach is a person who has joined before you. To keep your resolution on right track messages and emails are used. If a person joins after you, you'll get assigned as a coach for them. The more you visit the website to keep a record of your resolution, the more you'll score. Pledgehammer Pledgehammer.com is a site that helps you keep your promises. You make a pledge public on their website so that others can see what your resolution is. To make you keep your resolution, you are asked to decide on a deadline with a financial incentive. It means if you are unable to reach your goal within the specified time, you'll donate money to the charities associated with Pledgehammer.com. I like these websites for their simplicity. There are so many other website with great functions are also available on the internet. Have you made your new year's resolutions? How are you planning to keep them? Please share with us in comments. . Read Full PostComments

Atif Aslam, One of the Top Concert Attractions of 2010?

From the Blog Koolmuzone: Atif Aslam, One of the Top Concert Attractions of 2010? - Yesterday, Express Tribune published an interesting piece on top concert attractions of the year . The article featured both, musicians with highest grossing acts and with highest number of shows performed. In number of shows performed, Lady Gaga topped the list with over 138 shows followed by Bon Jovi (80 shows), Metallica (60 shows), ACDC (40 shows) and U2 with over 32 shows. Reading that, I giggled to myself and did a quick math on number of shows performed by Atif Aslam in 2010 as I clearly remembered at least 3 of his international tours in the year which had multiple acts. I looked around for as much concerts as I could find and ended up on a count of at least 40 shows around the world. Since I manually looked around for all the events and have no stats by the management, that of course doesn't include all the shows as some of them were private and not publicized to masses. Does that make the Pakistani pop star one of the top concert attractions of the year? Drop your opinion in comments.
